A follow-up from AI-MI’s superconductivity effort reports a new family of superconductors sharing the PtPb₃Bi structure type — extending the AI-prediction-driven discovery that produced PtPb₃Bi itself, featured as the June AI-MI research highlight. The team synthesized MPb₄₋ₓBiₓ compounds (M = Au, Pd, and Rh), finding bulk superconducting transitions at 4.9, 4.2, and 3.4 K respectively, and characterized them as moderately anisotropic type-II superconductors. The work establishes MPb₄₋ₓBiₓ as a platform for studying how site disorder and Pb–Bi mixing govern superconductivity in heavy-element intermetallics.
